Custom pinholes and slits
Custom micro-holes can be supplied in one-off or large quantities. The proprietary laser drilling techniques used by Oxford Lasers can be used either to produce a higher specification pinhole or to drill thicker/thinner sheets. Laser cutting techniques can be used to produce slts down to 5 microns wide as well as pinholes. As well as stainless steel pinholes, a very wide range of materials, including alumina, silicon nitride, tungsten, tantalum, titanium, copper, aluminium and kapton can be drilled. Non-standard orifice sizes can be drilled and slots as well as circular holes can be supplied. Holes down to 1 micron can be drilled in special circumstances in thin foils.
As well as drilling single holes, multiple holes can be drilled. These can be a relatively small number of orifices e.g. for a fuel injection nozzle. Special nozzle plates can be drilled with holes at an angle to the surface and even with a range of hole sizes in a single plate. ALternatively, very large numbers of holes can be drilled on very tight pitches e.g for filter plates or atomisers. Oxford Lasers have supplied plates with well over 10,000 holes per part. read more »
